11 things you need to know about The Web and Beyond 2010

June 1 is almost here! We can’t wait to meet you and experience the energy of The Web and Beyond 2010 community. Here is some of the most important stuff you need to know about D-Day (and the day before).

1. How to get to the Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ?
The conference venues are the ‘Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ’ (Concert Hall of the 21st century) and ‘het Bimhuis’ (a raised ‘black box’ jutting out from Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ). They are situated close to the city centre. Address: Piet Heinkade 1, 1019 BR Amsterdam. Get detailed directions on our site.

2. Time and registration
Doors open at 8 a.m. Registration starts at 9 a.m. Get your badges at the registration desks. Note: Participants will be listed by first names.
The conference itself will start at 9:30 a.m. and will end at 5:30 p.m. We hope you stay for the closing drinks until 6:30 p.m. View the full schedule.

3. Facilities
There is an attended cloakroom at the venue and an entrance for persons with disabilities.

4. Tickets available at the door
Didn’t get to register online or via email? Got colleagues who want to tag along? Does your boss suddenly have time to spare? Take them with you! We’ve got some remaining tickets for sale at the door so walk-in participants are welcome. It’s better, though, to contact us to save a spot upfront. Find out more.

5. Programme
We’ve got 2 keynotes, 18 parallel presentations, 2 workshops, and interactive demos and posters. View the complete list.

6. Workshops
Add some practical know-how to your insights on proximity. Invite your manager, stakeholders and client / account services team to the ‘Executive Workshop: UX in the City‘ where they can learn how UX methods can be applied to help determine the expected ROI of innovative social services. Or attend the ‘Social Tools Workshop ‘ for creative ideas and solutions on using social tools for websites and other projects. Get more details.

7. Social media
We are @thewebandbeyond on Twitter. Tag your tweets with #TWAB2010. Post updates, photos, links and discussions on our Facebook page.

8. Use of laptops, cameras, mobile phones
We trust that you’ll be considerate enough to the speakers and your fellow participants when using laptops, cameras and mobile phones during the presentations.

9. Got job vacancies you want to announce?
Post it on the job board. 1 ad per job; maximum size: A4.

10. Be present
Enjoy the community. Network with pleasure. Share your business cards, sense of humour, curiosity, and openness to new thinking.

11. Can’t wait for June 1 to connect with the TWAB network? Come to the pre-conference event on May 31.
There will be a pre-conference Amsterdam UX Cocktail Hour hosted by the Amsterdam startup hotspot Singel146 and Usabilla. All attendees who are in town on May 31, Monday, are invited to attend. Please RSVP by emailingpeter@peterboersma.com. This free event starts at 7 p.m.

Thank you for registering for this year’s edition of The Web and Beyond and throwing your support behind the UX and interaction design community. And if you still haven’t signed up, then we hope you do so right away. You can still register via email, or take your chances and get tickets at the door. Either way, we hope you will join this gathering of passionate and brilliant individuals on what promises to be an exciting, energy-filled day this coming Tuesday, June 1. See you then!

All the best,
The Web and Beyond 2010 Team
